The cave >

Really close to the house, hidden in its woods, there is a cave called Cova de la Carrera. First accounts where published by the Centre Excursionista de Gràcia (a hikers institution in Barcelona) some decades ago. Caused by the water in a nearby torrent, which kept digging in the calcareous rock, the cave consists of a total length of 134 metres, and an elevation gain of 17 metres. It goes from a torrent-bed to another, all along a stratification level. From the main entrance, we can get into the cave and follow a slight climb to the North for about twenty metres in a cul-de-sac, or we can also go down to the South by following the former water flow. If we choose to do that (move southwards), it will not take long before we come across a 2-metres-high point, from where the gallery gets wider and higher; later on, one should crawl for 2 metres before the cave gets to its previous dimensions and we can keep going. It will anyhow get smaller, and one should have to crawl for another 2 metres before we reach the exit, even if this is now blocked by sediments. If you are experienced enough and would be interested in visiting the cave (do not attempt to go right after it has been raining) just let us know. Please do not go alone... And respect the bats!
